Hurricane Helene Relief

In lieu of our normal "Socktober" sock drive in October this year, we're opting to request that families consider donating to Hurricane Helene Relief opportunities either with financial contributions and/or with physical items.

Hurricane Helene devastated the western 10 counties of our state as well as areas into TN, GA, SC, and FL. The people living in these communities need our help. Five days later, most in Western NC are still without power, running water, cell service and wifi. They are being told to expect to not have running water for 3 to 5 weeks in most cases.

Below are 2 documents. The first is a list of 5 local Western NC non-profit organizations that are already helping in affected areas and need financial donations to continue to do so. One not listed that I'd like to add to the list is Brother Wolf Animal Rescue. I have personally worked with all 6 of these organizations at some point in time. Manna Food Bank and Brother Wolf have both lost their facilities in Buncombe County due to the flood waters yet they're still out in the community helping.

The second is information from St Mark's on ways to donate physical items to the relief efforts - what to donate, as well as when and where. This is great information and a way to know that your donations will absolutely make their way into the hands of those that need them.

Please consider donating in ways that make sense for your family. There's no need to report back to the Pack on whether you do so or not, as we do not need to track something like this. Thank you for reading and for your consideration.
